PRICING
Pricing starts with calculating How much lumber is needed.
Find the Length, width and height in inches. Figure out how many panels of wood it will take (include the frame and drawers if applicable)
Using the picture (real customer design) this is the formula I led them through
STEP 1
Sides 2(L x H)
Top + 2(L x W)
Drawers +2(W x H)
Drawer Fronts +2(H x L)
Plywood +PLY
+%25
= total
Total”/144”
=Board Feet(BF) Needed
BF x Lumber cost
= Lumber cost
Then you add the cost for Hardware, finish, Sandpaper, and plywood
Material cost =
STEP 2
Add (Build time x Hourly rate)
Build cost =
A cutting Board will take about 2-4hours for example. but for your project a quick internet search (how long does ……… take to make by hand?) will give you a good idea how long something takes.
STEP 3
add (Material cost + Build cost)
Add Taxes, State and federal tax removes about 20 percent.
Then Sales tax 7.25 percent to 14 Percent depending on the state.
(if you don’t apply tax in your calculation I still have to pay it)
STEP 4
Lastly Calculate shipping + Crate Cost,
on larger pieces a shipping crate may need to be made usually about $50 of material and 1 hour of work at $25 per/hour (this is my unskilled labor pay rate)
STEP 5
At this point you should have a good idea of the total cost, I’m willing to work with budgets so please reach out if you have any other questions.
